L visa can be extended once or twice with one month each. L visa can also be converted to a 3/6 month Business (F) visa. After that, you can extend for another 3 month. The extension times are no limit, but the maximum stay inside of China without leaving is 1 year.

*. I have a double/multi-entry Visa, but have 30 days limit for each stay. How can I remove it?
The limit CAN NOT be simply removed in China since December 2004. If you want to stay longer than 30 days, we can help you apply for a new F visa, and your current visa will be revoked at the same time. Be discreet when you apply for double/ multiple entry visas outside China.

What is the maximum duration of an F Business visa extension?
The maximum duration for foreigners continuously in China without leaving is one year. When you hold an F visa and stay inside of China, you can extend your visa every six months for up to one year without leaving. For example, if you enter China on January 1, 2006, you can extend your visa every six months up to January 1, 2007 without leaving China. The one year limit is calculated from your LAST date of entry into China.

Is it legal that I’m staying in shanghai but holding a visa issued from another city in China?
Yes. As long as your visa is iussed from chinese government and it’s valid, then it’s legal for you to live in any city you want in china.
So that’s why some time We will help our the customers to extend the visa outside of Shanghai , the visa centre of other provinces have more visa quotas and easy policy for the foreigner, the customers can aslo get the new visa back in time just like extending it in Shanghai.

Within 48 hours of arriving in Shanghai, all foreigners must be registered at the district Public Security Bureau station near their residence. You should personally go to the station with your visa and rental contract to obtain the yellow temporary residence slip free of charge.
